IN an attempt to woo more voters for the 2016 local government elections, the ANC in Sarah Baartman resolved at the weekend to speed up service delivery in all of its municipalities.

ANC regional and provincial bosses met behind closed doors in Port Alfred on Saturday and yesterday to map out a way forward for the 2016 election and ways of improving service delivery.

Speaking after a two-day lekgotla at the MyPond Hotel in Port Alfred, ANC regional secretary Scara Njadayi said the ruling party wanted to go to the elections with a well-oiled machine.

"In some cases you will find there is a gap between ward councillors and communities because the councillors do not stay in the wards and are not accessible to the communities.

"So, we then said at the lekgotla that councillors must go back and stay in their wards because we want to improve service delivery so our people will continue having faith in the ANC." - Mkhululi Ndamase
