A GLAMOROUS Port Elizabeth businesswoman stands to lose assets valued at more than R7-million should she fail in her attempt to stop a provisional restraint order from being made final.

If the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) succeeds in its application to have her assets permanently restrained, fraud accused Sharmilla van Heerden, 37, stands to lose:

  • Her luxury family home in Gerdine Street, Summerstrand, valued at R2.3-million;
  • An Audi Q7;
  • An Audi TT Coupe;
  • A Mitsubishi Canter;
  • An Isuzu bakkie; and
  • Six shipping vessels (containers).
The assets of her two companies are also at risk.

Van Heerden will stand trial in the Motherwell Magistrate's Court later this month after she was held for allegedly exporting shark and octopus meat to Australia without a permit. - Kathryn Kimberley
