Workers dig up arm at construction site

CONSTRUCTION workers made a gruesome discovery on a building site in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, yesterday when they dug up a right arm while digging holes for pipes.

The limb was found at about 12.45pm at Walmer Township Park, police spokesman Warrant Officer Alwin Labans said.

"The site was previously a graveyard. I cannot say whether any other body parts have previously been found in the area," he said.

Labans said the origin of the arm was not known, and an investigation would take place.

"We will carry out DNA testing tomorrow as part of that investigation." – Yonela Mgwali
