Music, stalls and fun for all at Wildsfees

A WILDLIFE auction, extreme motorcycles, award-winning music and even some alpacas will form part of the annual Absa Kirkwood Wildsfees, which is celebrating becoming a teen this year.

The festival, which has been running for 13 years, will welcome artists and bands like Karlien van Jaarsveld, Elvis Blue, the Parlotones and Mango Groove onto the Eastern Cape's biggest stage.

Festival director Jenni Honsbein said that everything was on track for the festival to open its gates tomorrow, and that they were very excited that the festival would be officially opened by Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom.

"We are delighted that minister Hanekom, who is MP for the valley, will be here to experience the festival for himself," Honsbein said.

Organisers are expecting sunny weather as festival-goers enjoy their pick of more than 350 stalls.

Kirkwood High School will also be hosting a performance of the award-winning stage production "Oskar en die Pienk tannie" with Sandra Prinsloo in the school hall on Saturday. There will also be a designated Kidz Zone where parents can leave their little ones to have fun under supervision.

Rugby fans will not miss any of the action when the Springboks take on Scotland on Saturday as they can watch the game on big screens.
