Ex-radio presenter in court after chase along freeway

A FORMER award-winning community radio presenter was released on R1000 bail after appearing in court at the St Albans Prison yesterday.

Etienne Calitz, who won an MTN Radio Award in 2012 while working at Bay FM, was arrested on Sunday after allegedly attempting to steal building material worth about R10000 from a construction site near the N2 towards Jeffreys Bay.

Calitz and two other suspects allegedly entered a construction site next to the site where the new Baywest Mall is being constructed and loaded steel onto the back of a bakkie. - Riaan Marais
