THE Nelson Mandela Bay Ratepayers' Association has called for the immediate resignation of mayor Ben Fihla and his deputy, Chippa Ngcolomba, claiming they are driving investors away from the city.

On Friday, UDM councillor Mongameli Bobani told a council meeting that white people must move from their mansions to live in shacks as part of economic growth and radical transformation.

At that meeting, Fihla then spoke of a need for radical transformation, saying he "agreed with the point raised by Bobani".

After a report by The Herald's sister paper, Weekend Post, municipal spokesman Kupido Baron said Fihla meant that he only agreed with Bobani that radical change was required to empower the black majority in the country. - Mkhululi Ndamase
