Bus contract might reach end of road

LUMEN Technologies, the Cape Town company fighting to keep its lucrative R174-million bus contract with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, has been provisionally liquidated.

Next month, Lumen will have to explain to the Western Cape High Court why the judge should not place the company under final liquidation.

Mandela Bay leaders are anxiously awaiting the outcome of the case, as a final liquidation order could effectively mean the end of Lumen's contract with the Bay municipality, thus forcing the city to re-advertise the tender to have display technology on the Libhongolethu buses. - Rochelle de Kock
