Education staff threaten to shut down second office

UITENHAGE education district office staff unhappy about the sloppy and unsafe conditions they say they are forced to work under, are threatening to shut down the second office building where department employees work if their bosses in Bhisho do not respond to their demands by Friday.

The district staff, who locked up their office indefinitely last week, will try to get the attention of Education MEC Mandla Makupula when he visits the area on Friday to launch the education-aligned Extended Public Works Programme.

Yesterday, staff reported to a "cleaner and much smaller" Enoch Mankayi Sontonga Complex – which they are threatening to also shut down – and crammed in with employees there. - Zandile Mbabela
