Cacadu named one of best municipalities

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma announced the Cacadu District Municipality as one of the 11 best performing municipalities in the country during the state of the nation address in parliament last night.

But opposition parties in the Eastern Cape dismissed that as misleading, saying local municipalities under Cacadu were faced with service delivery protests.

Zuma said the municipalities were chosen after they stood out for consistent good performance in audits, expenditure of municipal infrastructure grants and service delivery.

Cacadu mayor Khunjuzwa Kekana, who was also voted as the best mayor in the province at the Vuna Awards in February, said she was happy her municipality was recognised by Zuma. - Mkhululi Ndamase
