THE South African ambassador in Rome, Tembi Tambo, will pay for an expensive brain scan that a Port Elizabeth woman with a rare ear condition desperately needs.

Tambo read the story of Angelique Glass in the eEdition of The Herald yesterday and was so touched by her plight that she decided to pay for the brain scan. "Just send me the bank details, I am happy to pay the R6000 for her scan," Tambo said.

She is the daughter of Oliver and Adelaide Tambo and heads the Tambo Foundation as well.

Angelique's father-in-law, Barry Glass, who has desperately tried to get her into surgery as soon as possible, burst into tears when he received the news. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you," was all he could say. - Estelle Ellis
