Municipality owes us R17m, companies tell high court

TWO major construction firms have lodged high court applications against the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, claiming millions of rands for services rendered.

The separate applications were filed at the Port Elizabeth High Court by Bosch Stemele (Pty) Ltd and WK Construction (Pty) Ltd and have been postponed to later this month.

Bosch Stemele's application will be heard on June 24 with the firm seeking summary judgment against the municipality in respect of more than R12-million for the rectification of subsidised houses, more than R511000 for pre-1994 rectification projects, and more than R76000 for storm damage projects.

They are also seeking interest payments as well as the costs of the suit to be paid. - Lee-Anne Butler
