Uncle jailed for raping girl, 4

A UITENHAGE man was sentenced to 18 years in prison in the Port Elizabeth High Court yesterday for raping his four-year-old niece while drunk in 2011.
The man pleaded guilty yesterday, shortly before the little girl was due to testify at his trial.
The 52-year-old cannot be named to protect the identity of his niece, who is now seven. His name will be added to the National Register for Sex Offenders. The man was convicted of raping the girl at the home of his sister in KwaNobuhle in Uitenhage in the early hours of December 6 2011. - Lee-Anne Butler
