Politics 'to blame for port strike'

THE ongoing strike at the Port of Ngqura by Numsa has nothing to do with its demands but is all about the political party the union wants to start, Transnet chief executive Brian Molefe said.

Molefe was in Nelson Mandela Bay at the weekend following a spate of attacks on the homes and properties of non-striking Transnet workers.

At least 30 homes belonging to non-striking Ngqura Container Terminal workers have been stoned, petrol- bombed and torched, allegedly by Numsa members, since the strike began in April.

Numsa has denied any involvement in the incidents. - Yoliswa Sobuwa
