IT is time for communities to claim back the streets from criminals, Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle said at a prayer service yesterday.

"What is the value of freedom if communities have to live in fear? Why is there such disregard for human life? Let us work together so that our communities can live in peace," he said in New Brighton.

"When the foundations of communities are shaken, it is only good men and women working together who can strengthen these again."

Masualle said the message of peace had to be echoed in all households. - Thulani Gqirana
