ANC Youth league vows to right past sins with new team

THE ANC Youth League in the Eastern Cape aims to reach up to 50000 young people in 500 branches before its provincial elective congress at the end of August.

In terms of the organisation's constitution, it needs 70% of its total of 500 branches in the province to be fully functional to go to a provincial elective congress.

The provincial task team (PTT) reported yesterday that 80 branches had been turned around so far as part of its branch rebuilding programme.

But the task of renewing 270 more branches to reach a total of 350 for the 70% representation would be tough, observers said.

The deadline is August 13. - Ray Hartle
