Dagga suspect now held on theft charge

LESS than two days after being released following his arrest for allegedly transporting more than R300000 of dagga from Uitenhage to Humansdorp, the same suspect was rearrested for allegedly stealing roadside construction equipment.

The 40-year-old man, who cannot be named until he appears in court, was released on Friday after being arrested on May 16 when the Uitenhage K9 unit stopped him on the R75 transporting the dagga. "We suspect he was travelling from Uitenhage to Humansdorp to do the drop-off," police spokesman Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei said.

"The same person was then released on Friday and rearrested on Sunday, after police caught him transporting stolen construction equipment from Hankey to Nelson Mandela Bay. - Gareth Wilson
