Car crews in charity drive Fifty bags of blankets and clothes collected

THE Kings Beach parking lot was overrun by rims and roof racks yesterday, as many of Nelson Mandela Bay's car crews filed into the parking lot in the name of charity.

More than 100 gleaming cars gathered at the monthly park-off – during which car clubs meet to display the latest trends and show off their cars – organised by Mainstream Crew, to start its drive to collect winter woollies for the Pops (People Opposing Poverty in Society) Foundation.

Mainstream Crew spokesman Nithaam Fakier said more than 50 black bags of blankets and clothes were collected which would be handed over to the Port Elizabeth non-profit organisation for distribution to needy children on June 16. - Tremaine van Aardt
