Numsa still set on workers' party plan

ESCAPING the axe from Cosatu did not mean Numsa would abandon its plans to form a workers' party to take on the ANC in the municipal elections in 2016, Numsa boss Irvin Jim said yesterday.

Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) bosses have decided to let the National Union of Metalworkers of SA – its biggest headache in recent months – stay in the federation.

Cosatu yesterday said it would allow the ANC task team led by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to help settle its internal squabbles. - Mkhululi Ndamase
