Car theft suspects arrested after tip-off

FOUR men believed to be involved with a car-theft syndicate in the Newton Park and Glen Hurdarea have been arrested following a tip-off.

Almost 20 cases of car theft have been reported since the start of the month, possibly linked to the men. They are between 22 and 24 and from New Brighton.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said they were arrested in a hired Toyota Corolla while parked in Kenneth Avenue, Glen Hurd,yesterday afternoon. Two of the men were in the car when police arrived.

The men are expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Monday. – Gareth Wilson
