Societies give gifts that will last a lifetime

A BOLD injection of R30000 from Sasol Oil will enrich the lives of hundreds of pupils from three schools in Port Elizabeth's northern areas and townships.

Vukani Primary School in Motherwell, Adolph Schauder in Schauderville and Chatty Senior Secondary School in Bloemendal will all benefit through the company's corporate social investment initiatives, with projects run by the NMMU's student organisations.

The university's Toastmasters society received R15000 from Sasol to run projects in schools of their choice. According to Toastmasters president Amandla Didisa, they chose Adolph Schauder and Vukani to boost literacy among the pupils.

"Each of the two schools will have R7500 spent on literacy programmes," Didisa said. - Alvené du Plessis
