Boy, 4, crushed to death by wall

A YOUNG soccer loving child was tragically crushed to death just a few metres from where his father was working when part of a boundary wall fell on top of him as he was playing with a friend in a busy Port Elizabeth street.

Four-year-old Rashid Issah Loggenberg – who had dreams of becoming a soccer star one day – died while being rushed to hospital after being dug out from under the collapsed wall by a neighbour who heard the commotion outside in Zosa Street, Korsten, on Tuesday afternoon.

At the time of the tragedy, Rashid was playing with a friend, Joshwayne Erasmus, also 4, on the pavement outside Adam's Barber Shop – which is owned by Rashid's father – when the wall collapsed on him. - Gareth Wilson
