Cancer treatment the price of a car

EVERY time cancer survivor Graeme Caldwell is hooked up to an IV for another dose of chemotherapy he thinks: "This tiny bag of medicine costs the same as an Audi A3."

For Caldwell, 31, the R280000 bag of medicine is a last hope to fulfil his dream of finally beating cancer and being in remission by December.

Over the past three years he has fought battles with his tumour, which he has nicknamed Trevor.

Now he hopes the "Rolls Royce" of chemotherapy will help him win the war. - Estelle Ellis
