Police arrest 104 in Uitenhage anti-crime blitz

POLICE in Uitenhage arrested 104 people for a variety of crimes at the weekend.

Police spokeswoman Warrant- Officer Gerda Swart said the arrests were made from Friday evening to yesterday morning.

Police arrested suspects on charges of possession and dealing in mandrax and dagga, attempted murder, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, burglary, theft and robbery.

People were also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and a total of 45 traffic fines were issued. – Riaan Marais
