‘DA tells lies about Fihla’

EASTERN Cape ANC bosses have launched a scathing attack against the DA for “peddling lies” that Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Ben Fihla has resigned and is set to be replaced by Smuts Ngonyama, who recently left COPE.

Fuelling speculation that the 82-year-old mayor was leaving two years before the end of his term, the DA said yesterday it had reliably learnt the ANC would be pushing for “hired gun” Ngonyama to replace Fihla.

It is the second public statement by the DA’s Bay caucus leader, councillor Retief Odendaal, in a week, in which he claimed Fihla’s departure was imminent. – Rochelle de Kock

Nelson Mandela who was renowned throughout the world for his leadership became President of South Africa at the age of 76 years of age and was 81 years old when he handed power to Thabo Mbeki! It is not a matter of age but competency!Jacob Zuma is only 72 years old but has difficulty reading his own speeches and is mired in controversy over allegations of corruption and incompetence. I think that Mr Zuma SHOULD do us all a great favour and stand down but to discriminate against a person because they are old is,”Ageism”.It is wrong just as Racism is Dallas Oesterlain!

my question is why is he still working at the age of 82, we the “normal” people have to retire at 65yrs.even our preseident should retire as we are forced to do. Dallas
