Tavern owner accused of revenge tactics

THE owner of a tavern where a man was killed in 2011 was accused yesterday of trying to implicate one of the two suspects in the murder trial because she allegedly had an axe to grind with his father.

The woman, who cannot be identified as she is in witness protection, was questioned about an alleged affair she had with the accused man's father which had ended badly.

She vehemently denied these claims.

The woman was testifying in the trial of Deilon Makoppa, 26, of Schauderville, and Keenen Liberty, 31, of Bethelsdorp. The men are alleged to be members of the Spotbouers gang. - Lee-Anne Butler
