EASTERN Cape Health MEC Sicelo Gqobana will not back down on his order for state nurses to wear white uniforms – despite an arbitration order granting them a reprieve.

However Xoliswa Tota of the Democratic Nurses’ Union of South Africa (Denosa), which took the Health Department to arbitration over the uniform issue, said they would only wear the uniforms on one condition.

“Let me be very clear about this. We will wear the white uniform if the department supplies it to us, finished and klaar,” Tota said. – Estelle Ellis
