THE owner of a tavern where a man was shot dead in 2011 broke down yesterday as she had to testify about what happened on the night of the incident. The 35-year-old woman cannot be identified as she is in witness protection.
She was overcome with emotion as she took the stand in the Port Elizabeth High Court and proceedings were adjourned for 15 minutes to allow her time to recover.
The woman was testifying in the trial of Deilon Makoppa, 26, of Schauderville, and Keenen Liberty, 31, of Bethelsdorp. The men are alleged to be members of the Spotbouers gang. – Lee-Anne Butler
