Stanford Road motorists in dark over faulty lights

ANGRY residents in Port Elizabeth’s northern areas are complaining that the street lights along Stanford Road from Gelvandale to Windvogel, as well as in the Cleary Estate and Bethelsdorp area, have been off at night for the past three months, making the roads dangerous.

Meanwhile, the same lights have been on during the day for the last two weeks, with Herald photographers capturing the evidence last Thursday and yesterday.

June Daniels of Cleary Estate complained that her queries to the municipality about the dark roads had been fruitless. “One evening I almost hit a herd of cattle crossing the road as I could not see them until they were practically on my car’s bonnet. – Alvené du Plessisv
