AN 81-year-old medical doctor from Malabar has finally laid down his stethoscope after 50 years of service to the Uitenhage community.
Fit and healthy, Dr Val Moodley spent his last day as a general practitioner on Monday reflecting on his career during apartheid and after.
He said if there was one thing he learnt as a doctor, it was that illness knows no colour.
Moodley graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1962 and started his career as an intern at Livingstone Hospital. – Alvené du Plessis
