Kiviet in trouble over board axing

OUTGOING Eastern Cape premier Noxolo Kiviet has failed to provide solid leadership in dealing with the longstanding feud between the East Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) board and chief executive Sitembele Mase which led to him being sacked, ANC provincial bosses said yesterday.

In a strongly worded statement, ANC provincial secretary Oscar Mabuyane said both Kiviet and Economic Development MEC Mcebisi Jonas's silence on the squabbles at the ECDC speaks volumes.

This has raised questions about the future of Kiviet and Jonas's political careers as the ANC will only decide after today's election on its premier candidate and new cabinet of MECs. - Rochelle de Kock and Mkhululi Ndamase
