Sudden banning of spray 'baffling'

A PORT Elizabeth businessman behind the immune- boosting Immutides spray is baffled as to how a product he personally uses has suddenly been banned.

Saulez Agencies, owned by Guy Saulez, had geared up to have stock dispatched to the region's three TB hospitals for a six-month trial.

But the process was stopped in its tracks in February by Eastern Cape Health MEC Sicelo Gqobana after he said the spray had not undergone the required clinical tests.

Bay businessmen Mike Xego and furniture store owner Gary Karlson were also in on the deal.

Now, armed with letters of approval from the Medicines Control Council (MCC) and the Eastern Cape Health Department for his product, Saulez is questioning why inspectors from the MCC are targeting him. - Estelle Ellis
