TRAUMATISED student Siyanda Mati fled Grahamstown shortly after Amanda Tweyi was shot dead in his room at Rhodes University early on Saturday.
He returned home to Peddie and is still not sure when he will return to Grahamstown. Tweyi’s body was found in Mati’s Cullen Bowles residence room at the university where she was allegedly killed by her boyfriend Nkosinathi Nqabisa, 34.
While Mati gave few details about the tragedy, a police official, who asked not to be named, said: “Mati had left the room looking for help when he saw that an altercation between Tweyi and Nqabisa was escalating. He was not there when the shooting actually happened, only returning to find Tweyi and Nqabisa dead in his room.” – Zandile Mbabela
