One dead, one hurt in spaza robbery

UITENHAGE police are appealing for information regarding the murder of a shopkeeper in KwaLanga on Friday.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei said a Zimbabwean man, 25, died on the scene after being stabbed in the chest at a spaza shop at about 7pm.

Another man, an Ethiopian, is in a stable condition in the Uitenhage Provincial Hospital after being stabbed in the head.

The men's names are being withheld as their families have not been informed.

"Five men are wanted for murder and robbing a business premises, after they stabbed two men in a KwaLanga spaza shop on Friday. All the men are at large but police are following up all leads," he said.

"We urge anybody from the community who has information relating to the incident to come forward with that information and assist police in the investigation."
