COLLEGIATE Girls’ High School is hosting the annual National All Girls Schools and Cultural Festival as part of the Port Elizabeth school’s 140th anniversary celebrations.
The array of sporting and cultural activities – on the school premises and at Grey High School – will see nearly 1000 pupils from 20 different schools countrywide competing in a variety of activities, ranging from hockey to choir competitions by the time it ends tomorrow.
Event organiser Mareike Colloty says the festival is proving a huge success.
“It is much bigger and better than I expected. It is really running smoothly and is being enjoyed by parents and pupils alike.
“The support being shown for all the teams, not just Collegiate, is great and really good to see,” Colloty said.
“People are screaming for the different teams and everyone is really coming together to enjoy the event, which is what we had hoped for.”
