King slams Zuma during Lekota visit

ANOTHER political party leader has received a warm welcome from abaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo at his Bumbane Great Place as political parties scramble for support in rural Transkei.

COPE president Mosiua Lekota is in the region to campaign in Dutywa, Mthatha and Port St Johns for the upcoming elections.

While welcoming Lekota to his home, Dalindyebo took the opportunity to take a swipe at President Jacob Zuma, calling him foolish.

"When we were told he [Zuma] would lead this country we said no, they should look for another person. Our concerns are being proven today – everything he does, it's as if he has forgotten yesterday's sins. He starts afresh with fresh foolishness and arrogance."

He also criticised Zuma for surrounding himself with questionable characters. "When you are a leader, check the people who are surrounding you, because their quality will determine your quality. Their rot will be your own rot. When you do wrong they salute you instead of correcting you."

Lekota said COPE was grateful for the opportunity to pay tribute to Dalindyebo.

"We respect the right of the kingdom to welcome other political parties to speak to the citizens here." - Abongile Mgaqelwa
