A GUN battle at a Port Elizabeth liquor store in the early hours of yesterday saw a robbery suspect shot dead when a security guard fired through the windscreen of his bakkie at the approaching man.
More than 15 shots were exchanged between the ADT security guard and the gang of about four robbers.
The shootout happened just minutes after an Atlas armed response vehicle was hijacked by two of the robbery suspects outside Big Daddy’s in Struandale.
The vehicle was later found abandoned in New Brighton. – Gareth Wilson
