THERE is nothing quite like the taste of freedom, especially when it costs a whopping R20000 a bottle.

While millions of South Africans are expected to celebrate Freedom Day on Sunday by sipping on everything from pints of beer and pinotage to pina coladas and papsaks, one Port Elizabeth business is offering those with expensive tastes an exclusive opportunity to not only celebrate, but to savour the two decades of democracy.

Released specifically to commemorate the 20th anniversary of democracy and with an arguably hard-to-swallow price tag of R20000, a 750ml bottle of Jameson 1994 Edition Rarest Vintage Reserve has gone on sale. – Shaun Gillham
