Meeting today on music event branded a flop

THE organisers behind the weekend’s ’90s Music Series and Nelson Mandela Bay municipal officials are expected to meet today for a debriefing and to discuss how they can improve the event next year.

Some of those attending the ’90s Music Series have described the Kings Beach event – meant to complement the Splash Festival at nearby Hobie Beach – as a flop. The event started several hours later than the scheduled 4pm.

By the time the first kwaito act arrived onstage at about 11pm, there were fewer than 300 people, the majority of them in the VIP section. – Yoliswa Sobuwa
