Promise to convert loans into bursaries

DA YOUTH chairman Yusuf Cassim last night promised students at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University that should the opposition party be voted into power after next month's elections, they would convert government financial aid scheme loans into bursaries after graduating.
Cassim, who is also a DA parliamentary candidate, addressed about 200 students at a DA Students Organisation rally/braai at an open field at the NMMU south campus with fellow parliamentary candidate Nqaba Bhanga.
Thousands of students around the country protested earlier this year after they could not get funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. - Mkhululi Ndamase
