Two suspects seek police info

TWO men accused of being members of a syndicate that attempted to rob a cash-in-transit vehicle carrying R2-million in cash outside the Kragga Kamma Spar in 2009 yesterday brought an application to gain access to documents in the police's possession for the advancement of their trial.
Judge Nambitha Dambuza will make a ruling on the matter in the Port Elizabeth High Court tomorrow.
According to the application, Mabhuti Renene, 29, of KwaDwesi, and Mxolisi Gushe, 40, of Kwazakhele, believe they should have access to certain documentation, including affidavits, transcripts of video footage and office notes relating to the police operation during which they were arrested. - Lee-Anne Butler
