Bay comrade blasts SACP's East Cape boss

SA COMMUNIST Party member Makhi Feni has laid into SACP Eastern Cape secretary Xolile Nqatha, calling him a scavenger who was using his position to push his personal agenda of becoming an MEC after next month's election.

In an open letter to Nqatha, dated April 9, seen by The Herald, Nelson Mandela Bay's Feni said the SACP in the province had been brought into disrepute and split into factions while Nqatha surrounded himself with "cronies and blind loyal confidants".

Nqatha and the party at regional level have been at loggerheads since last month when he acted on instructions from the SACP provincial working committee to suspend district chairman Zilindile Tambo and secretary Nokuthula Tetyana for defying the orders of provincial bosses. Last month the provincial executive also disbanded the Bay structure and appointed a task team to run it. - Mkhululi Ndamase
