REFUSING to give up on the idea of developing the dilapidated Telkom Park-Happy Valley precinct, the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) is again calling for proposals to develop it.

Yesterday, the MBDA put out an advert calling for an expression of interest from developers after only receiving three proposals the last time it called for these in 2009.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality initially wanted to build an international convention centre, but with the construction of the Boardwalk Hotel and ICC the demand for one is questionable.

Since the construction of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in North End the Telkom Park site, which runs from the EP Rugby Union Stadium towards Happy Valley, has become an eyesore with vandals and thieves stripping off any item of value. – Mkhululi Ndamase
