SIX gangsters walked into a Port Elizabeth high school in broad daylight yesterday, pointed a gun at one teacher, and then stormed an office where one of their members was being questioned by staff.

They left Gelvandale High School in Helenvale after an angry confrontation with more staff, but only after threatening teachers with revenge before police arrived.

The entire incident lasted about 15 minutes.

A 17-year-old youth was later arrested on a firearms charge.

The school in the gangster- plagued neighbourhood, which has 1360 pupils, was closed yesterday and will remain shut for at least the next two days. – Lee-Anne Butler
