10111 control room move stalls

THE move of 10111 staff to their new multimillion-rand control room has been put on hold once again following an order from provincial management claiming that technical issues with the equipment still had to be resolved.

But according to sources involved with the ongoing saga, the advanced Tetra Radio software and equipment was “sabotaged” when passwords were placed onto the system by the supplier who was removed from site after a tender agreement lapsed.

Officers said yesterday that all the computers were password protected in order to deny access to the police.
