Crime of passion defence rejected

A PORT Alfred tavern owner will serve life in prison after an appeal court dismissed his submission that he was provoked into killing his "cheating" wife.
Mluleki Manziya, 40, had asked the court to deviate from the prescribed minimum sentence after he claimed the murder was a crime of passion and not premeditated.
Manziya was sentenced to the maximum term in the Grahamstown High Court in August 2012. - Kathryn Kimberley
