Barber's hair-raising chase by armed cops

THERE was chaos at a northern areas school in Port Elizabeth yesterday when a terrified barber, chased by armed police in plain clothes, forced his way into a classroom in a desperate effort to evade what he thought were gangsters.

Pupils screamed and cried and worried parents raced to the school as the drama unfolded shortly before 11am.

Police dismissed the hair-raising event later as a case of mistaken identity. But Helenvale Primary School principal Malcolm Roberts was not amused – and neither was the barber, Clayton Andrews, 35. - Lee-Anne Butler, Kathy Paton and Yoliswa Sobuwa
