Eyebrows raised at politics from pulpit

AS election fever mounts, political parties are taking their message to the pulpit, preaching their manifestos to thousands of congregants, a move that has raised eyebrows among some religious leaders in Nelson Mandela Bay.

On Sunday, a number of churches in Port Elizabeth opened their doors to the ANC, which had sent some of its high-ranking leaders to campaign in the city at the weekend.

Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa visited the Victory Ministries International Church in Gelvan Park, where he delivered a speech as part of the party's election campaign. - Thulani Gqirana
