Move for Zuma to be arrested, tried

THE Economic Freedom Fighters have called for President Jacob Zuma to be arrested and his innocence tested in a court of law, while the National Freedom Party said the president should be "red-carded".

Speaking at Braamfischer, Soweto, EFF leader Dali Mpofu said Zuma had become a rich man since taking over in 2009. He said South Africans would be stupid to vote for Zuma in the coming elections after the report released by the public protector.

"We can't be that stupid. How can you vote for someone who takes R2-million and builds a pool when he can't even swim," Mpofu said. "He should be arrested and let the court decide if he is innocent."

NFP leader Zanele KaMagwaza Msibi told supporters in Tembisa in Ekurhuleni: "The president of the country used more than R250-million of taxpayers money – let us show him the red card."

She cautioned society to be aware of how the government had betrayed the spirit of the constitution. – Penwell Dlamini. Additional reporting Kingdom Mabuza
