Boy, 4, killed and two wounded by gangsters

GANGSTERS are using innocent people in Port Elizabeth's northern areas as target practice, terrified residents said after a four-year-old Helenvale boy was gunned down yesterday.

Luciano Pieterse, of Ibek Street, died in Livingstone Hospital at about 4.20pm, two hours after he was shot in the head less than 30m from his home.

The little boy was one of three casualties of a random shooting.

Another child, Jaden Fredricks, 11, was grazed by a bullet on the right side of his head and shot in the sole of his left foot, while Byron Carroles, 23, was shot in the mouth.

Both are in a stable condition in Livingstone's intensive care unit. - Tremaine van Aardt
