‘Bruised’ toddler’s death mystery

DISTRAUGHT family and friends of a little girl who died in Port Elizabeth’s Dora Nginza Hospital are searching for answers as police investigate possible murder.

Five months ago, Krisley Dirker was four months short of her second birthday when she was taken to Medicross clinic in Westering with a bump on her head. She was unconscious.

The doctor on duty said there was nothing he could do for her so she was rushed to Livingstone Hospital in an ambulance.

After surgery, Krisley was transferred to the paediatric unit at Dora Nginza. Doctors did what they could but, before long, she slipped into a coma and died on October 17.

The little girl was christened a day before her death.

In a poignant letter to the Weekend Post with disturbing pictures of the bruised toddler linked up to life support, a family friend, who asked to remain anonymous, pleaded for Krisley’s story to be told so that justice could be served and the events leading up to her tragic death could be revealed.
